Four Winds Casinos Job Fair

  • To prepare for its soon-to-open hotel and spa, Four Winds Casino is hosting a job fair to fill various positions.
  • The casino’s impressive new hotel tower, which boasts 23 stories, is set to open its doors early this year.
  • As part of its expansion last August, the casino unveiled an extra 45,000 square feet dedicated to gaming facilities.

The expansion project at Four Winds Casino is reaching its final stages.

In November 2021, a new retail sportsbook was launched at the casino. In August, the casino introduced its expanded gaming floor. As of January 1st, it has announced a job fair to recruit staff for its hotel and spa amenities that are soon to be available.

At the job fair, immediate hiring will occur, and some roles will offer a $500 signing bonus. It operates from 10 AM to 4 PM on both January 3 and 4, catering to candidates aged 18 and older. Representatives from Four Winds Casino will be on-site to connect with applicants.

Massive Site Expansion Project

A key aspect of the project is the new 23-story hotel tower, which will stand as the largest hotel within the Michigan region of northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan. This hotel, located next to the casino, will feature 317 rooms, including 83 luxurious suites, alongside various amenities such as a bar and grill, a lounge, a spa, and a rooftop swimming pool.

In a recent update given in late October, tribal officials stated that all exterior work on the hotel has been finalized, and the remaining efforts are concentrated on completing the interior. Four Winds management already has a tentative opening date in mind, which has yet to be publicized, other than indicating it will be early in 2023. With the job fair underway for hotel and spa positions, it suggests that the grand opening is just around the corner.

The expansion also added a substantial 45,000 square feet dedicated to gaming, bringing the total casino floor space to 185,000 square feet. This new area allowed for the installation of 850 additional slot machines, 11 table games, a high-limit gaming area, and an expanded cashier area. As a result of this extension, Four Winds South Bend now boasts a total of 2,250 slot machines and 27 table games.

Last November, the casino embraced the sports betting trend by launching the Four Winds Sportsbook, which features six self-service betting kiosks along with a dedicated sportsbook counter. Guests also have the option to place bets conveniently from their mobile devices through the casino's online betting platform.

Additionally, the project encompasses the new Ribbon Town Conference and Event Center, a name that pays homage to the Pokagon Tribe’s ancestral homeland in Indiana, which is present-day South Bend. This multi-purpose facility spans 24,000 square feet, featuring 16 meeting rooms, a ballroom accommodating up to 600 guests, two pre-function bar areas, a business center, and an outdoor area for pre-function activities.

Four Winds South Bend Casino

The Four Winds South Bend Casino is operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, situated primarily in southwestern Michigan and northeastern Indiana. The tribe manages four casinos, including the one in Michigan.

Following an agreement with Michigan, the tribe was able to establish the Four Winds New Buffalo casino in 2007 within the borders of the Pokagon Reservation in New Buffalo Township, in alignment with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Subsequently, the tribe opened its second casino, Four Winds Hartford, in August 2011, followed by a third in Dowagiac in April 2013.

Despite being limited to three casinos under its compact with Michigan, the tribe managed to operate the Four Winds South Bend casino in Indiana by asserting that the land was eligible for gaming under specific provisions of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Their 2012 proposal included plans for a comprehensive 164-acre village featuring housing, medical services, governmental facilities, and a casino with a hotel.

In 2019, the tribe applied for a Class III license, which would enable them to operate Las Vegas-style table games. After the Indiana General Assembly validated the compact with the Pokagon Tribe, it was ratified by Governor Holcomb in May 2021, and subsequently, the U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the gaming agreement in July 2021.

The Four Winds South Bend casino officially opened its doors on January 16, 2018, marking it as the only tribal casino operating within the state of Indiana.
