{4}

The current odds for the 2025 WNBA Championship indicate that the Liberty, last year's champions, are still the team to beat. New York clinched their inaugural title after an intense five-game series against Minnesota. Can they maintain their dominance, or will other teams disrupt their championship aspirations?

I'll delve into the odds for the WNBA championship, examine the frontrunners, and draw attention to a sleeper pick I have in mind. With the regular season just two weeks away, I'll also share my early championship prediction!

2025 WNBA Championship Betting Odds

TEAM ODDS
New York Liberty +120
Minnesota Lynx +330
Indiana Fever +400
Las Vegas Aces +550
Phoenix Mercury +1500
Seattle Storm +1800
Atlanta Dream +5000
Los Angeles Sparks +10000
Dallas Wings +17500
Washington Mystics +20000

The New York Liberty's odds have improved at various WNBA betting sites, dropping from +225 to +120, which translates into an implied 45.5% chance of winning. They started the 2025 season with an impressive eight-game winning streak as of June 9, showcasing a remarkable point differential of 19.0!

Following the Liberty in the championship odds are the Minnesota Lynx at +330, Indiana Fever at +400, and Las Vegas Aces at +550. The Lynx have outperformed New York so far with a perfect 9-0 record, aiming for a championship rematch against the Liberty. These three teams have win probabilities ranging between 15.4% and 23.3% , while the Fever and Aces still have ground to cover to catch up to the top two.

The championship odds then shift to Phoenix at +1500 and Seattle at +1800, dropping further to Atlanta, which is listed at +5000. The Mercury, Storm, and Dream would need the leading teams to falter to enhance their standings, but all three have maintained a winning record in their initial 8-9 games of the season.

2025 WNBA Championship Favorites

Let’s kick things off by examining the frontrunners likely to claim the championship trophy at the conclusion of the 2025 season!

New York Liberty(+120)

    • Head Coach: Sandy Brondello
    • 2024 Record: 32-8 (Won WNBA Title)
    • WNBA Titles: 1
    • Key Players: Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Jonquel Jones

The Liberty (8-0) are dominating their opponents, leading the league in metrics such as net rating (23.3), offensive rating (112.0), and defensive rating (88.6). They hold the title for the best three-point shooting team, successfully making 38.2% of their attempts from beyond the arc. The Liberty appear to be even stronger than during their championship run last year!

The trio of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones continues to shine, but the addition of Natasha Cloud has significantly strengthened the Liberty! Cloud is contributing an average of 10.0 points and 6.6 assists, allowing Ionescu more freedom to operate off the ball.

With the Liberty frequently winning by large margins, they are able to get their bench players more game time, which will be beneficial as the season progresses. Currently, one-quarter into the 2025 campaign, the New York Liberty stands out as the team to watch, according to championship odds, statistics, and scouting reports!

Minnesota Lynx(+330)

    • Head Coach: Cheryl Reeve
    • 2024 Record: 30-10 (Lost in WNBA Finals)
    • WNBA Titles: 4
    • Key Players: Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, Courtney Williams

The Lynx are somewhat undervalued, presenting a chance for a favorable return on their WNBA title odds! Minnesota is right behind New York in key statistical categories such as net rating and offense and defense metrics. defensive rating .

Napheesa Collier has emerged as the frontrunner in the WNBA MVP odds after delivering outstanding performances! Collier is averaging 25.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. As the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, she remains the top two-way player this season.

What’s more, is that Kayla McBride is back on the court. The seasoned guard missed the first four games due to personal reasons, but in her five appearances, McBride has averaged 17.0 points while shooting an impressive 53.2% overall and 54.8% from three-point range, which clears the path for Collier and her teammates.

Getting the Lynx at +330 is a wise bet at this juncture of the season. Their odds could tighten even more as the season progresses!

Indiana Fever(+400)

    • Head Coach: Stephanie White
    • 2024 Record: 20-20 (Lost in First Round)
    • WNBA Titles: 1
    • Key Players: Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell

The Fever hold a record of 4-4 and have missed Caitlin Clark since May 24, when she suffered a quad injury . Indiana is managing a 2-2 record without their star player, relying on teamwork to keep the Fever in the game. Nonetheless, Clark stated she could be back for Tuesday’s game against Atlanta.

Clark is leading the team with 19.0 points over her four games, paired with 9.3 assists. Remarkably, she is one of seven players on the Fever roster averaging at least 7.4 points. Even more notably, Indiana's defensive performance has improved significantly, now sitting in third for defensive rating and lowest points allowed per game.

Indiana struggled with defense last season. Should they continue to build on this improvement, the Fever could potentially challenge the leaders in the WNBA championship odds!

Las Vegas Aces(+550)

    • Head Coach: Becky Hammon
    • 2024 Record: 27-13 (Lost in Semifinals)
    • WNBA Titles: 2
    • Key Players: A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd

The Aces are currently at 4-3, but they've suffered losses in a troubling manner. They faced a 102-82 defeat in Seattle on May 25, and an even more alarming 95-68 loss to Golden State. Despite being an expansion team, the Valkyries outperformed the Aces, who were the reigning titleholders in 2022 and 2023. They also fell short against New York in the semifinals last season.

That led to head coach Becky Hammon labeled her squad as \"soft\" , hinting that there may be underlying mental challenges affecting the Aces' performance. The three-time and reigning MVP A’ja Wilson is excelling, with averages of 22.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 2.0 steals. However, Las Vegas ranks eighth for defensive efficiency and allows the ninth-most points.

The Aces understand that such performance is inadequate if they aspire to contend for a title. They can score, but they haven't consistently reached their full potential in that area either. Despite that, being a veteran team, I trust they will remain at least one of the final four contenders in this WNBA season!

2025 WNBA Championship Sleeper

Next, let's identify a potential sleeper team to watch closely in the WNBA championship odds.

Seattle Storm(+1800)

    • Head Coach: Noelle Quinn
    • 2024 Record: 25-15 (Lost in First Round)
    • WNBA Titles: 4
    • Key Players: Skylar Diggins, Nneka Ogwumike, Gabby Williams

The Storm are my pick for an early-season sleeper after the first nine games! Seattle has a record of 5-4, with their dynamic trio of guard Skylar Diggins along with forwards Nneka Ogwumike and Gabby Williams performing exceptionally well at the start of the season.

I do have concerns regarding the Storm's depth, or rather, the lack of it. Currently relying on a seven-player rotation, the last two players are logging an average of 11.6 (Zia Cooke) and 9.2 (Dominique Malonga) minutes on the court. Should any of the Storm’s star players get injured, it could pose a significant issue.

However, for the moment, the Storm's roster is healthy. They will need the top teams to face challenges, whether through injuries or a dip in form. If fortune favors them, Seattle's experienced players could take advantage when opportunities arise, and their championship odds of +1800 present a fantastic opportunity.

2025 WNBA Championship Forecast and Betting Recommendation

New York and Minnesota are the standout teams in the league, and the gap between them is narrower than the championship odds suggest! It's a fantastic deal to get either team at positive odds, and it may not take long for one of them to shift to negative territory!

You wouldn't make a mistake siding with either option, but I'm leaning towards Minnesota at +330, seeing this as an overvalue, hence I am taking advantage of the pricing!

It would be surprising if the Lynx’s odds decreased. The season looks set to be a battle between Minnesota and New York as it unfolds, thus I’m placing my bet on the Minnesota Lynx at +330 in my 2025 WNBA championship predictions!
